My name is Shelby Novak and I am so happy you are here!
I have always enjoyed an active lifestyle, but I never appreciated its benefits until our family relocated to Guam. I was extremely lonely and it took a toll on my mental health. I never left my home and eventually I never left my bed. One day I decided to walk our dog- Rose, to a nearby beach. That walk became a daily goal of mine, and with each walk I was able to clear my mind and escape the hole I found myself in. I found so much joy in something as simple as walking.
My husband- Glenn and I, found ourselves expecting a joy uniquely our own. Throughout the ups and downs of pregnancy I found remaining active to have a major impact on my wellbeing. Especially on the days I woke up annoyed and nauseous. If I managed to grab my shoes and go on even a short walk it changed the entire trajectory of my day for the better.

Postpartum was a different story. I had so many expectations for my labor and delivery, my style of parenting, and the vision I had of myself as a mom. Everything fell through, but the one thing that remained was how physical activity improved my mood. Walking with my newborn became running with my stroller and post run stretches became mommy and me exercise time.
